Ingredients

1 package dry yeast
¼ cup lukewarm
¼ cup shortening
¾ cup scalded milk
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3½ cups flour — (¼ c more flour)

Directions

Dissolve yeast in water. Melt shortening in scalded milk and add sugar, salt, and egg. When mixture has cooled to lukewarm, add dissolved yeast. Stir in flour and knead 5-10 minutes, or until dough is smooth. Let rise until doubled in bulk (45-60 minutes). Form rolls-18 medium or 24 small-and place on greased baking sheet. Let rise until light (about 45 minutes). Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or until done.
