3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups sugar
1½ cups oil
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups diced apples
1 cup chopped dates (rolled in flour)
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup butter
¼ cup milk
Preheat oven to 175°C.
In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and cinnamon with a wire whisk and set aside.
Combine sugar and oil using a mixer until blended.
Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined.
Add flour mixture and mix well.
Stir in nuts, dates and apples. The batter will be very thick.
Pour into a greased and floured 22.5cm x 32.5cm pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until done.
Heat topping ingredients on the stove until mixture bubbles.
Pour topping over cake letting some seep into the cake.
